Johnson signs UK-EU trade deal

United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson signed the trade agreement between his country and the European Union on Wednesday.

"By signing this deal, we fulfill the sovereign wish of the British people to live under their own laws, made by their own elected Parliament," he tweeted after inking the 1,246-page document. He previously told the parliament that the deal, worth £660 billion annually, will enable the UK to keep its post-Brexit sovereignty and to "trade and co-operate with" the bloc "on the closest possible terms."

Earlier in the day, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Charles Michel signed the deal on behalf of the EU.
