Europe ends mostly higher as countries extend lockdowns
Major stock market indexes in Europe ended mostly with gains on Wednesday as a number of countries, including Italy, Switzerland and Austria introduced new measures to curb the spread of COVID-19. Meanwhile, United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson said he is "very concerned" over the Brazilian virus strain.
The DAX finished 0.11% in the green as Bayer jumped 4.49%. The CAC 40 was 0.21% higher at the end of the day, with Carrefour surging 13.42%, while the FTSE 100 ended 0.13% in the red as Persimmon dropped 6.21%.
The euro fell 0.39% against the dollar to go for 1.21580 at 5:37 pm CET while the pound lost 0.26% compared to the greenback at the same time as it changed hands for 1.36296.
