Europe ends lower mixed amid vaccination uncertainty

European stocks ended mixed on Friday after World Health Organization head, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, said that the unequal vaccine rollout globally will expand the time needed to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic. Meanwhile, tensions increased over the United Kingdom's post-Brexit relationship with the European Union.

The DAX finished 0.97% in the red as MYU Aero Engines dropped 6.17%. The FTSE 100 ended 0.31% lower, with the LSE Group plummeting 14.38%. The CAC 40 lost 0.81%. The index was led lower by Airbus which fell 4.87%.

The euro lost 0.51% compared to the dollar, going for 1.19090 at 5:34 pm CET and the pound fell 0.61% against the US currency at the same time to change hands at 1.38014.
