No evidence COVID shots ineffective against Indian variant - UK minister

United Kingdom's Environment Secretary George Eustice said on Sunday the British government has no evidence that the so-called Indian variant of the coronavirus "is able to get around the vaccine, or indeed that it is necessarily more contagious than the others." The new "double mutant" variant was detected in India last month.

Eustice said there are currently around 70 cases of the variant in the UK. "But it is something that we are watching," he asserted in an interview for Sky News, adding that India could be added to the travel "red list" if the scientific experts advise such a move.
