Pfizer to apply for vaccine use for under-12s - report

Pfizer Inc. is expected to apply for emergency use authorization (EUA) for their COVID-19 vaccine, developed jointly with BioNTech SE, to be used for kids younger than 12 years old in the United States, CNN reported.

According to the report, the US Food and Drug Administration's advisory panel of outside experts is scheduled to meet on June 10 to discuss the emergency use of the Pfizer-BioNTech jab in under-12s.

The FDA has expanded their original December EUA for the vaccine to include adolescents ages 12 to 15, but reportedly for younger children, another EUA would need to be issued. Meanwhile, Pfizer has submitted the needed documentation for full use authorization of their coronavirus vaccine.
