EU to impose $425M fine on Amazon over GDPR breach - report

The European Union could levy a $425 million fine against online retail giant Inc. over a breach of bloc's privacy law, The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Luxembourg's National Data Protection Commission (CNPD) has drafted a decision and sent it to EU's remaining 26 national data watchdogs, the report explained.

Amazon allegedly breached EU's General Data Protection Regulation(GDPR) through the collection of personal data of its users, the outlet cited one of its sources, adding that there is no connection to the Seattle-based company's Web Services branch.
