McDonald's: Q2 revenue at $5.89B, up 57% YoY

McDonald's Corporation revealed on Wednesday that its revenues in the second quarter of fiscal 2021 reached $5.89 billion, 57% higher than in the same timespan in 2020.

Operating income jumped from $961.1 million to $2.7 billion in the quarter that ended on June 30, 2021, while net income surged to $2.2 billion from $483.8 million recorded in the second trimester of the previous fiscal year. Diluted earnings per share reached $2.95 in the second three-month period in 2021, compared to $0.65 from the corresponding timeframe a year ago.

"Our performance is a continued demonstration of the broad-based strength and resiliency of our business as global comp[arable] sales in the second quarter increased nearly 7% over 2019," President and CEO Chris Kempczinski said in the press release.

The company's shares were flat in premarket trade following the release of the report.
