Asian shares trade mostly higher after PMI data

Equities on the Asian markets started the week's trading session mostly higher on Monday after Japan released its manufacturing PMI figure which signaled only a slight improvement in business activity in July. In China, the Caixin China General Manufacturing PMI data for the same month showed that the country's manufacturing sector slipped to a 15-month low, despite remaining above the neutral 50.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite went down by 0.25% at 04:27 am CET, as the Shenzhen Composite added 0.33%. Japan's Nikkei 225 increased by 1.62% a minute later, with the Australian S&P 200 up by 1.28% at the same time.

At 04:30 am CET, South Korea's Kospi lost 0.04%, with Hong Kong's Hang Seng rising by 0.08% a minute later. The dollar traded 0.02% lower against the yen, going for ¥109.6695 at 04:33 am CET.
