England scraps plan to enforce COVID certificates

The British government won't make COVID-19 vaccine passports mandatory to access crowded spaces across England, Health Secretary Sajid Javid confirmed on Sunday.

"What I can say is that we've looked at it properly, and while we should keep it in reserve as a potential option, I'm pleased to say we will not be going ahead with plans for vaccine passports," Javid told BBC.

In remarks made earlier today, Javid confirmed that Prime Minister Boris Johnson would announce the government's COVID-19 plans for the upcoming winter next week.
