German 7-day incidence rate hits new record

The German seven-day COVID-19 incidence rate continues to increase since setting a record and rising above 200 for the first time two weeks ago.

The figure set a new all-time high during the day on Sunday, with 386.5 cases seen per 100,000 inhabitants, data compiled by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) showed.

The country's death toll reached 99,124 in the meantime, as another 62 fatalities were attributed to the virus, while the number of nationwide infections increased by 30,643 to 5,385,585.
