Djokovic intends to play at Australian Open in 2023 - official

Tennis Australia Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Craig Tiley stated World No. 1 men's tennis player Novak Djokovic intends to play at the Australian Open 2023 and expressed his belief the Serb will be back in Melbourne next year.

"Obviously, I think he's got to play out this year, but that will be his intention. At the end of the day, he's the No 1 player in the world, and he loves the Australian Open," he told ABC TV. Tiley added that Djokovic will not be suing Tennis Australia for granting him permission to play at the tournament without being vaccinated against COVID-19, which the nation's officials later revoked.

Djokovic arrived in the country with the aforementioned exemption earlier this month but the Australian Border Force (ABF) questioned the veracity of his claims he had COVID-19 in December and denied him entry. The nation's federal court then reinstated his visa, but Immigration Minister Alex Hawke then canceled it again. Djokovic was eventually deported from Australia.
