Asia higher after carmakers' earnings

Stocks on Asian exchanges traded with gains on Wednesday after Japanese automakers Toyota and Honda released their respective quarterly figures. Yesterday, it was reported that China made a record-breaking 3.54 million new energy vehicles (NEV), while Foxconn is reportedly planning an electric car partnership with a company from Thailand.

The Nikkei 225 rose by 1.08% at the close. The Shanghai Composite was up 0.66% at 7:05 am CET and the Shenzhen Composite Index advanced 1.50% at 7:20 am CET. The Hang Seng climbed 1.92% a minute later. The Kospi grew 0.81% at 7:21 am CET. The S&P/ASX 200 in Australia closed with a 1.14% gain.

The dollar was flat compared to the Japanese yen at 7:23 am CET, trading for 115.4855.
