Asia trades lower after Japan GDP data

Equities on the Asian markets traded mostly down on Wednesday after Japan's Cabinet Office released its first-quarter GDP data which showed the value of goods and services in the country contracted by 1% over the year.

On the Chinese mainland, the Shenzhen Composite traded 0.37% lower at 5:30 am CET, as the Shanghai Composite fell by 0.16%.

Hong Kong's Hang Seng lost 0.74% at 5:38 am CET and South Korea's Kospi Composite traded flat at 5:40 am CET, with the dollar 0.23% down against the yen, going for ¥129.0945 at the same time. At 5:42 am CET, Japan's Nikkei 225 went up by 0.47% and the Australian S&P/ASX 200 added 0.73%.
