Ukraine's grain exports plunge 55.5% YoY in June

The Ukrainian Ministry of Agriculture reported on Monday that the grain exports in June tumbled 55.5% on an annual basis, falling to 777,000 tonnes. Of the total figure, Ukraine exported 689,000 tonnes of corn, 63,000 tonnes of wheat, and 21,000 tonnes of barley.

The number for the same period last year stood at 1,747,000 tonnes of grain. Due to the sea blockade imposed by Russia after the conflict in the country began, Kiev has been unable to transport its grain through the maritime route, which has led to a growing food crisis on a global level.

Previously, German officials stated that they are working with Poland and Romania in order to create railway routes that would be used for the delivery of Ukrainian grain, which has been trapped in the country.
