Russia confirms Putin will attend G20 summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin responded positively to his Indonesian counterpart Joko Widodo's invitation to attend the Group of 20's (G20) summit in Bali in November, his Foreign Policy Assistant Yuri Ushakov stated on Monday.

Ushakov noted the format of the meeting is still being determined, explaining that "I hope that the [COVID-19] pandemic will allow this important forum to be held in person, but I'm just afraid to guess."

The assistant added Moscow is "very pleased" with the outcome of the BRICS summit – held between its members Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa in Beijing –, stressing the importance of all those countries "stand[ing] for the establishment of a truly democratic multipolar order in the world, [...] free from [...] various kinds of politically motivated restrictions and sanctions."
