Germany on verge to completely ban Russian oil - Scholz

German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated on Wednesday that the country is on the verge of abandoning Russian oil, emphasizing that Germany had "prepared" for this difficult energy situation.

Scholz told the Bundestag after the Cabinet meeting that the country has secured coal imports "from all over the world and not from Russia" explaining why the government has not yet put Nord Stream 2 into operation to help the country overcome its energy crisis.

Previously, German Economy Minister Robert Habeck stressed that using the Nord Stream 2 pipeline is not an option as it is "unlicensed" and is subjected to sanctions by the United States, adding that the country may intervene in gas pricing if necessary.
