Europe opens lower amid inflation updates

Major stock market indexes in Europe opened lower on Wednesday after July's inflation in Germany was confirmed to stand at 7.5%. Later in the day, the same report will be released for more countries on the continent, as well as the United States. Meanwhile, the conflict in Ukraine continued, with the local authorities accusing Russia of killing 13 people in the most recent shelling of the Dnipropetrovsk region.

The DAX opened 0.33% lower as Sartorius AG went down by 2.06%. The FTSE 100 declined by 0.15%, with Halma PLC decreasing by 1.48%. The CAC 40 fell by 0.35% as Wordline SA dipped by 1.49%.

Both the euro and the pound sterling stood flat against the US dollar at 8:58 am CET, going for $1.02118 and $1.20774, respectively.
