Czech inflation hits 17.5%, highest since 1993

Annual inflation in Czechia stood at 17.5% in July, hitting the highest level since December 1993. The figure was up from June's inflation rate of 17.2%.

The biggest contribution to higher consumer prices came mostly from housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels as natural gas prices soared 59.8% and solid fuels jumped 41.5% year on year. Meanwhile, food and non-alcoholic beverages prices rose 19.3%.

On a monthly basis, consumer prices were up 1.3%, marking the lowest monthly increase since February.
