Malaysia Airlines to acquire 20 Airbus aircraft

Malaysia Airlines' owner Malaysia Aviation Group (MAG) revealed on Monday in Kuala Lumpur that it has reached agreements to acquire 20 Airbus SE's A330neo aircraft.

Ten airplanes will be bought from Airbus, while the remaining 10 will be leased from Irish leasing company Avolon. "The A330neo will not only provide fleet modernization and enhanced operational efficiency, but will also meet environmental targets through reduced fuel-burn per seat, while keeping passenger safety and comfort at its core," MAG CEO Izham Ismail said in a statement.

"The decision is a clear endorsement of the A330neo as the most efficient option in this size category for premium operations," Airbus Chief Commercial Officer and Head of International Christian Scherer added.
