Congressional visits to Taiwan in line with one-China policy - US

United States State Department Spokesperson Ned Price underscored on Monday that visits of the Congress members to Taiwan are "entirely in line with one-China policy," accusing Beijing of being the only party that is interested in changing the "status quo" regarding Taiwan Strait.

The spokesperson explained that Beijing's reaction to the official visit of US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi earlier this month demonstrated that China is "seeking to erode the status-quo of Taiwan," stressing that Beijing "overreacted" by conducting military drills that are challenging the 40-year long stability in the region.

With regards to the latest visit of the country's lawmakers to Taiwan, just twelve days following Pelosi's trip, Price underscored that Washington will not be "deterred from flying, from sailing, from operating in the region, in accordance with International Law," while trying to only show support for people in Taiwan.
