Wall Street edges higher at close, Fed still in focus

Major stock markets in the United States traded slightly higher at close on Thursday, after a volatile session, as investors continued to digest the latest Federal Reserve minutes, which seemingly failed to give conclusive clues on the future possible rate hike moves.

Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis President James Bullard shared that he is inclined to support a 75-basis-point rate increase at the central bank’s next meeting in September, while Fed’s Kansas City President Esther George said that the bank will continue with the hikes until it is clearly evident that inflation is subsiding.

The Dow Jones grew 0.06% at the closing bell, while Nasdaq 100 advanced 0.26%. Cisco Systems was the best performer on both indexes and jumped 5.81%. At the same time, S&P 500 increased 0.23% as APA surged 8.53%. The euro slid 0.85% against the dollar at 3:59 pm ET, selling for 1.00933.
