UK PM Truss's approval rating drops to 18% - poll

British Prime Minister Liz Truss saw her approval rating fall to just 18% less than a month after taking up office, according to an Opinium poll. With 55% of respondents disapproving of her performance, her net rating reached a negative 37, compared to a negative 9 a week ago.

Truss's Conservative Party also suffered a slump in ratings after the government released the details of its mini-budget that resulted in a sharp fall of the pound and an intervention by the Bank of England. Support for the Tories now stands at 27%, while Labour rose to 46%. Labour Party leader and Truss's main rival Keir Starmer also saw his net rating improve to a positive 9 from a negative 4 last week.
