Ten-year US Treasury yield near 2007 high
The yield on the benchmark ten-year United States Treasury note rose on Thursday with 4.228% as its daily high, while also moving toward the strongest level since 2007. Federal Reserve officials continue to reaffirm commitment to a long-lasting restrictive monetary policy that could keep up the negative pressure on US government bonds, which are seemingly less appealing to investors in a high interest rate environment.
The return on the 10-year Treasury note advanced 9.9 basis points to 4.228% at 3:13 pm ET. The yield on the two-year note rose by 5.8 basis points to 4.61% a minute later. The return on the 30-year bond was up 9.5 basis points to 4.222% at 3:15 pm ET.
The two-year note yield reached a new 15-year high, while the 30-year bond yield was the highest since 2011.
