Wall Street closes lower amid bond selloff

Wall Street closed lower on Thursday after United States Treasury yields continued to reach fresh multiyear highs, weighing on sentiment on stock markets. Meanwhile, traders will keep following the third trimester earnings season, with Snap due to publish results after the bell.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average index was down 0.30%, or 90 points, at the close with The Home Depot, its worst performer, falling 2.19%. The Nasdaq 100 contracted by 0.51% as Tesla dropped 6.65% at the end of the trading session. The S&P 500 closed 0.80% lower. Allstate Corp dragged down the index after plummeting 12.90%.

The euro rose by 0.12% compared to the dollar to change hands for 0.97839 at 3:59 pm ET.
