US nonfarm payrolls up by 263,000 in November
Nonfarm payroll employment in the United States grew by 263,000 in November, the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced on Friday. Employment increased more than the expected 200,000. Meanwhile, the unemployment rate was unchanged from October at 3.7%, with the number of unemployed people at 6 million.
The labor force participation rate was also little changed from October and landed at 62.1%. Average hourly earnings in November rose by 18 cents or 0.6% to $32.82. In the last 12 months, average hourly earnings have increased by 5.1%. The average workweek decreased by 0.2 hours to 34.4 hours.
