US stocks mostly lower at close after November jobs report

Major US stock markets closed mostly lower on Friday after a choppy session characterized by the release of the November jobs report. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, nonfarm payroll employment in the United States rose by 263,000, while the unemployment rate was unchanged at 3.7%.

In other news, US President Joe Biden signed into law legislation allowing a rail labor deal to go into effect, while the EU announced that it had reached a consensus on the Russian oil price cap.

At the close, the Dow Jones gained 0.10%, with Boeing edging up 4.05%. The Nasdaq 100 fell 0.40%, while Zscaler decreased by 10.73%. The S&P 500 declined by 0.12%, as Paypal Holdings Inc. dropped by 4.93%. The euro improved by 0.07% against the dollar at 3:57 pm ET, selling for $1.05307.
