US, EU to boost chip supply chain cooperation

The United States and the European Union issued on Monday a joint statement following the third meeting of their joint Trade and Technology Council (TTC), currently co-chaired by Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Trade Representative (USTR) Katherine Tai, and Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo, and European Competition Commissioner Margrethe Vestager and Trade Commissioner Valdis Dombrovskis.

The group agreed to, among other matters, cooperate on identifying vulnerabilities and strengthening the supply chain, especially when it comes to semiconductors, further boost transatlantic trade, work together on security, and fight climate change.

The officials also stressed the US and the EU's determination to keep supporting Ukraine as it is combating Russia's military operation, impose further sanctions on Moscow for its actions, and hold Belarus accountable for its alleged support of the aggressor.
