Japan considering easing South Korea export curbs

The Japanese government is looking at the possibility of relaxing controls on exports to South Korea in order to improve regional security relations, according to a report published by the local newspaper Sankei Shimbun on Saturday.

Citing sources close to the government, the paper revealed that Tokyo is set to decide soon on relaxing restrictions on high-tech goods exports imposed in 2019 as part of the dispute related to forced labor of South Korean workers.

A separate report from the local agency Jiji Press said on Friday that Japanese and South Korean foreign ministers are scheduled to meet in Seoul for the second time this month and resolve this dispute.
