Nasdaq 100 jumps 4%, Meta sparks optimism
The Nasdaq 100 soared over 4% on Thursday after Meta's fourth-quarter earnings report seemingly lifted demand for other technology-related stocks.
Facebook's owner extended its gains to over 27% and, alongside Align Technology, pulled the index up. Electric automakers Rivian and Tesla, as well as Alphabet and Amazon, both due to release their latest quarterly results after the closing bell, all soared over 7%.
The Nasdaq 100 gained 4.11% at 2:02 pm ET. The Dow Jones was flat and the S&P 500 rose by 1.80% at 2:03 pm ET. The euro was 0.61% lower than the dollar, going for 1.09220 at the same time.
