Two-year US Treasury yield hits new 2007 high

The yield on the two-year United States Treasury note on Thursday again reached its highest level since 2007 following the new labor market report that documented that the number of jobs in the United States private sector surprised to the upside. The return on the two-year note rose by 15.4 basis points to 5.105% at 10 am ET.

After the jobs and other economic data reports that came out today, markets are apparently concerned that the Federal Reserve will almost certainly raise the main interest rate later this month, with more tightening that could follow after the summer break.

The return on the 10-year Treasury jumped 10.8 basis points to 4.057% at 10:01 am ET. The return on the 30-year bond increased by 4.8 basis points to 3.992% at the same time.
