NXP, Hawkeye join forces on self-driving tech

Dutch NXP Semiconductors NV announced on Wednesday it signed an investment and collaboration agreement with Chinese autonomous driving company Hawkeye Technology Co. Ltd. Under the agreement, Hawkeye will provide its expertise in 77Ghz radar solutions, as well as a lab complex in Nanjing, China, and will work together with NXP to create reference designs for the Chinese automotive market.

"The collaboration with Hawkeye is evidence of NXP’s confidence in the Chinese market and our determination to continuously invest in the country," NXP President Kurt Sievers stated. "Innovators in automotive, like Hawkeye and Southeast University, have become the driving force for the transformation of China’s automotive industry. We are pleased to collaborate with these excellent partners, leveraging NXP’s leadership in the fast-growing radar semiconductor market to improve road safety," he added.

The two firms provided no details on the financial terms of the deal.
