Plane engineer likely the only survivor of Iran crash - report

The plane engineer who was among the crew of the Boeing 707 that crashed earlier on Monday in Iran was likely the only survivor of the crash, Fars News Agency reported. Additionally, Press TV reported that the pilots may have survived the cargo plane crash. Responders on the scene of the crash recovered seven bodies, and so far there has been no information about the other eight passengers on board the aircraft. The freighter carried a total of 16 crew.

The cargo plane crashed during descent at an airport in Karaj near Tehran. It flew from Bishkek to Payam airport in Karaj, a city approximately 40km from Tehran. According to media reports, the pilots started the descent into a wrong airport and failed to land safely on the runway. The plane crashed into a wall and entered a residential area in the proximity of the airport.
