Russia: OPCW found no chemical weapons in Damascus research center

Russian Defense Ministry said on Wednesday that the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) did not find chemical weapons at the Barzeh research center in Damascus, Syria. The United States, United Kingdom and France carried out an air strike on Syrian regime's chemical weapons facilities earlier this month. "Shortly after the airstrikes, many people visited those sites without any protective equipment. No one got any signs of gas-poisoning," said Colonel General Sergei Rudskoi.

The ministry also stated its experts are examining US missiles used in Syria. "Two [missiles] including Tomahawk cruise missile and a high-precision aviation missile were delivered to Moscow… They are now being examined by our experts. The results of this work will be used to improve Russian weapons," Rudskoi said. He added Russia will continue to train Syrian military personnel and "assist in mastering new air defense systems" to be supplied "in the near future."
