Russian official: Western arms supply blocks peace efforts
Senior Russian diplomat Konstantin Gavrilov said on Wednesday at the military security and arms control meeting in Vienna, that supplies of military weapons from NATO alliance countries to Ukraine only hampers peace efforts with Russia and effectively orders Kiev to shun such talks.
"The countries of the Alliance are arming Ukraine 'to achieve peace', declaring the need for a political settlement, but in fact ordering Kiev not to resume the negotiation process," Gavrilov stressed and further added, "they assure that there are no intentions to supply tanks and aircraft to Ukraine, and then suddenly change their minds." He concluded by saying "we are once again convinced that the West cannot be trusted."
The comments come in light of French politician and National Assembly Member Marine Le Pen's view that full NATO involvement in Ukraine could lead to WW3.
