S. Arabia says Houthi attacks will halve Aramco oil output

Attacks on Saudi Aramco's oil facilities committed by Houthi rebels will halve its crude output, said Energy Minister of Saudi Arabia Abdulaziz bin Salman citing preliminary estimates. This amounts to approximately 5.7 million barrels that will not be produced due to a temporary suspension of operations at Abqaiq and Khurais plants.

The minister pointed out that the "terrorist attack" was "an extension of the recent attacks that targeted oil and civil facilities, pumping stations and oil tankers in the Arabian Gulf."

Yemen's Houthi rebels attacked Saudi Aramco's plants in Khurais and Abqaiq with drones earlier on Saturday. The group claimed responsibility and vowed to continue and broaden the scope of the attacks on Saudi Arabia. Saudi Aramco Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Amin Hassan Al-Nasser confirmed there were no injuries reported among the company's staff.
