Schumer plans to pass spending bill by Christmas

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (pictured) announced on Monday that he intends to bring the Build Back Better Act up for a vote in the Senate in order to pass it "as soon as possible and send it to the president's desk." Speaking on the Senate floor, Schumer confirmed the Democrats plan to pass the bill by Christmas.

However, media reports allege moderate Senator Joe Manchin, a key vote in the Democrats' slim majority, is still undecided. The CNN reported he declined to commit to Schumer's timeframe, stating that "we will wait to see what we have." Meanwhile, Senator Bernie Sanders stressed he "intends to do everything he can" to include dental and vision Medicare coverage in the bill, which could further complicate negotiations.
