Tencent's revenue at $13.7B in Q3, up 21% YoY

Tencent Holdings Ltd. revealed on Wednesday that its revenue totaled 97.24 billion yuan ($13.7 billion) in the third quarter, representing an increase of 21% compared to the same period a year ago.

The company's operating profit dropped 7% year-on-year to reach 25.83 billion yuan ($3.66 billion) in the third three-month-period, while diluted earnings per share stood at 2.13 yuan. The profit attributable to shareholders stood at 20.98 billion yuan ($2.97 billion) in the quarter ending with September 30, falling by 13% on an annual basis.

"During the third quarter we experienced sustained healthy growth rates in our operating and financial metrics. Notably, our FinTech and Business Services and Advertising segment revenues each increased at double digit percentage rates from the second quarter thanks to rising user activity and improved advertising technology, demonstrating the strength of our new businesses and increasing the diversity of our business mix," Chairman and CEO of Tencent Ma Huateng said in the press release.
