Turkey: Too early to talk on Libya ceasefire collapse

Turkish Defence Minister Hulusi Akar (pictured) warned on Wednesday that it is to early to talk about Libya ceasefire collapse. He told reporters that it cannot be said that the ceasefire has collapsed, it’s much too early for such an interpretation."

Libyan National Army leader Khalifa Haftar left Moscow yesterday without signing the ceasefire agreement with the UN-backed Government of National Accord's head Fayez al-Sarraj, after hours of negotiations.

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said earlier this week that Turkey intends to "teach a lesson" to Haftar if he doesn't stop attacking Tripoli-based government. He said that "if necessary we’ll stop the regime’s attempts to break the ceasefire on our own. Everyone should see that we don’t joke, we will do whatever we say."
