Two 5+ magnitude quakes shake Gulf of Aden
A series of strong earthquakes shook the Gulf of Aden off the horn of Africa on Saturday, according to reports made by the United States Geological Survey (USGS).
The first 5.2-magnitude shake was registered 143 kilometers from the Somalian town of Las Khorey, and was followed by another 5.9-magnitude strong, which hit the center of the Gulf of Aden at a depth of 10 kilometers.
The region experiences significant seismic activity due to its location on the boundary between the Arabian and African tectonic plates. This region is prone to earthquakes and is also known for the presence of active fault lines, contributing to its seismic activity.
