UK mortgage approvals up to 43,500 in February
Mortgage approvals for house purchases in the United Kingdom rose to 43,500 in February, up from 39,600 registered in January, it was revealed in the Bank of England's report published on Wednesday.
Approvals for remortgaging were up to 28,100 in February from 25,400 recorded a month prior. Consumer credit added £1.4 billion in February compared to £1.7 billion the previous month, with the annual growth rate for all consumer credit rising 0.2 percentage points to 7.7%.
The effective rate on new personal loans to individuals slumped by 15 basis points to 8.15% in February, while net mortgage lending dropped from £2.0 billion in January to £0.7 billion in February.
