UK parliament bans TikTok from its devices network
Both houses of the British parliament will block the TikTok social app from being used on its devices network due to security concerns related to user data collection.
"Following the government's decision to ban TikTok from government devices, the commissions of both the House of Commons and Lords have decided that TikTok will be blocked from all parliamentary devices and the wider parliamentary network," a parliament spokesperson announced on Thursday.
The United Kingdom joined the list of countries that have limited the use of the social media platform developed by China's ByteDance in recent months. Meanwhile in the United States, TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew testified before Congress about the app's data-gathering practices.
