UK trade deficit up to £4.9B in quarter to July

The United Kingdom's total trade deficit, excluding non-monetary gold and other precious metals, went up by £1.5 billion to £4.9 billion in the three months to July 2021, the Office of National Statistics (ONS) revealed in its report published on Friday.

Total imports of goods, excluding precious metals, rose by £6.3 billion or 5.8% in the three months to July 2021. During the same period, exports expanded by £4.5 billion or 5.7%.

Meanwhile, the trade in services surplus grew by £0.4 billion to £28.5 billion.
