US consumer confidence increases in June

Consumer Confidence Index in the United States rose by 12.2 points compared to the previous month to reach 98.1 in June, the Conference Board revealed in its report published on Tuesday.

The Present Situation Index also improved from 68.4 in May to 86.2 this month, while the Expectations Index went up from 97.6 to 106.

"Consumer Confidence partially rebounded in June but remained well below pre-pandemic levels," Board's Senior Director Lynn Franco said. Commenting on the future, he stressed that "it's too soon to say that consumers have turned the corner and are ready to begin spending at pre-pandemic levels."
