US initial jobless claims down 10,000 to 203,000

Initial jobless claims in the United States for the week ending December 1 decreased by 10,000 to 203,000, the United States Department of Labor reported on Thursday. The four-week moving average was 217,750, a decrease of 2,000 compared to the previous week's unrevised average of 219,750.

The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment rate for the week ending November 23 was 1.2%, which was an increase of 0.1 compared to the week before. The seasonally adjusted insured unemployment during the same week stood at 1,693,000, going up by 51,000 from the previous week's revised level. The four-week moving average was 1,681,000, unchanged from the previous week's revised average.
