US lawmakers to introduce $908B stimulus bill - report
A bipartisan group of United States senators is planning to unveil a stimulus package worth $908 billion to address the coronavirus crisis, the Washington Post reported on Tuesday. According to anonymous sources, the deal would include federal unemployment benefit payments of $300 per week for four months, down from $600 in the first coronavirus relief package, which was also the amount Democratic lawmakers demanded.
In addition, the proposal would include $240 billion in funding for state and local governments, as well as $300 billion for small businesses. $50 billion would be directed toward health care, covering coronavirus vaccine distribution and test and trace programs. The report added that the bill will not include a one-time $1,200 stimulus check for households.
