US retail sales up 0.4% in June

Seasonally adjusted advance estimates of retail and food services sales for June in the United States increased 0.4% to $519.9 billion compared to the previous month, the US Census Bureau said in a report released on Tuesday. On an annual basis, retail and food services were up 3.4%.

Retail trade sales rose 0.4% in June compared to the month before and jumped 3.3% year-on-year. Health and personal care stores added 5.5% on an annual basis, while nonstore retailers soared 13.4% compared to the previous year.

The retail and food services sales data for May was revised downward from a monthly rise of 0.5% to an increase of 0.4%.
