US senators raise concerns on Tesla safety - report

United States Senators Richard Blumenthal and Ed Markey sent a letter to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) expressing safety concerns of Tesla vehicles, the Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday.

According to the report, the senators called on the safety regulator to give recommendations on advanced driver-assistance systems and ways they could be improved. The NHTSA is currently involved in multiple accident investigations involving Teslas, most of which are related to the autopilot and driving assistance systems onboard.

Earlier today, a non-profit organization determined that Tesla's Model Y could not detect there was no driver in the care with the autopilot on. Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the company is building up its collision repair capabilities.
