WH considering supply chain 'stress tests' - report

The White House is considering introducing "stress tests" of the supply chains in light of the global semiconductor chip shortage, CNBC reported on Thursday, citing four anonymous sources.

As part of the recently-initiated supply chains review by the United States government, some officials in Washington also propose stockpiling of critical products. "Stress tests" would serve to help companies detect weak points in their supply chains and prevent issues that may arise from future global shortages, one of the sources told the media outlet.

The government agencies working on supply chain issues are set to release their first report on critical items, including active pharmaceutical ingredients, critical minerals, semiconductors and advanced packaging and large capacity batteries on June 4, according to the report.
