WH: Russia's suggestions on Nord Stream attack flat out false

White House National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan claimed on Friday that Russia's suggestions that Washington may have been behind the Nord Stream pipelines sabotage are "flat out false."

Sullivan refused to directly blame Russia for the attack on the pipelines, but alleged Moscow has a history of accusing someone else for their actions. However, he reiterated US President Joe Biden's stance that a thorough investigation is needed to determine who was behind the sabotage.

Asked about the risk of Russia using nuclear weapons, the US official insisted Washington informed Moscow of what its response to such actions would be but refused to say publicly what it would include. Still, he noted there is no "imminent" indication Russia will use nuclear arms.
